Berneslai Homes is a housing organisation that manages thousands of council properties on behalf of Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. The organisation takes care of property maintenance, and provides landlord services to tenants.
Our first project with Berneslai Homes, focused on upgrading 250 semi-detached houses. As well as painting kitchens and bathrooms as part of the modernisation, we painted external gable ends using scaffolds.
GME understood the importance of providing an efficient and cost-effective solution for the redecoration of Berneslai Homes. We therefore focused on improving the look and feel of these properties, with clean and simple paintwork that could be completed in a short fixed period.
All this was done in line with property maintenance set by housing regulations. The council’s duty and their commitment to tenants was of high priority throughout the project. Tenants customer satisfaction forms are completed as part of moving back into the properties, therefore it was important our work exceeded their expectations. Part of a roll out project, our team moved from one property to the next in quick succession. Even with that, the work had to be finished to a very high standard of which we delivered. We were set daily targets by the council, each day these would differ in the number of properties to the different areas that needed painting. We hit every target set which contributed to the council’s deadlines for the refurbishment programme.
Our team made sure that the décor was uniform in each property, for results that were consistent throughout. During the process, we took extra care to minimise the mess and disruption caused by our team, appreciating the fact that many properties were occupied with existing tenants.
